KEN HORSTMANN:
Ken Horstmann has directed over 500 commercials, title sequences and music videos for clients like: ABCʼs Wide World of Sports, Atlanta Braves, AutoTrader, General Mills, Gillette, Gotee Records, Hasbro, The High Museum, Home Depot, Kelloggʼs, NASCAR, Maverick Records, McDonaldʼs, Panasonic, and Sprite.
As a staff director at Turner Studios in Atlanta, Horstmann directed numerous episodic television series, including The Saturday Night Solution on Court TV and Fried Dynamite, a live-action, teen sketch comedy show on Cartoon Network. In 2009 Horstmann directed Daily Wedgies on Cartoon Network and Vital Signs on CNN, a global look at health and medicine hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta. The effects heavy production airs in over 200 countries.
Horstmannʼs background is varied, working as a visual effects compositor, editor and director of photography in over 30 countries. Horstmann has lectured at Savannah College of Art & Design and been on several director round tables at film festivals, conventions and educational forums.
His work has received awards from the Broadcast Designers Association and the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences. Never Let Me Go for Family Force 5 was nominated for a 2008 GMA Dove Award for short form music video of the year.
Horstmann recently completed his first narrative feature based on his own screenplay. Upside deals with faith and the right of passage for a young Lacrosse player. Provident Films is releasing on DVD October 5, 2010.
Horstmann lives in Covington, Georgia with his wife Johanna, a singer and voice teacher, and their two daughters, Wren and Lily. They are members at First Baptist Covington and enjoy the rich and varied opportunities afforded by small town life.
